As well as running classes from her home studio in rural Stirlingshire, Gillian is available to come to your group.
I offer workshops to groups and guilds. My aim is to take the fear out of design and art, challenge participants to try something different and, above all, for everyone to have some fun. The feedback I have had has been amazing as has been watching groups of women laugh as they paint in time to music.
This is a list of current workshops and talks available for adults. These workshops can be tailored from half a day to five days, depending on the level of depth you want to go into. I also have lots of experience teaching art to children, having set up and run regular Saturday classes for a three year period. Please ask for more details if this interests you.
If you are looking for something else, please do get in touch and we can see what I can arrange.
How Did I Get Here?

New... Print, Paint, Play!
Experiment with 3 different surface design techniques: monoprinting using Gelli Plates; painting using Inktense inks and stencilling with Markal paintstiks. By the end of the day, you will have created a beautiful piece of fabric ready to be stitched into to create a gorgeous and unique work of art.
Be Inspired to Quilt
Want to make your own quilts rather than using someone else's design? Struggling to work out how? Then this workshop is for you. Have fun overcoming your fear, have a laugh with my unusual ideas for creating a design for a quilt. It's design, but not as you know it and absolutely no drawing skills are required - just a willingness to try.
Design to Quilt
You have your inspiration and your design. How do you turn it into an interesting quilt? This workshop leads you through different ways of interpreting your starting design into a quilt. Lots of different techniques to try and fun to be had.
Scrap Piecing for Art Quilts
Learn one of my favourite techniques, using small pieces of fabric to create a background for your quilt, and using paint to pull them all together. Although I tend to work in muddy brown and red colours, in this workshop we can go as bright as you desire.
Colour onto Cloth
Whilst commercially available fabrics are always tempting and good to use, there is something special about creating your own versions. Depending on the length of this workshop and the facilities available, we will use dye, paint, screen ink and oil sticks to create amazingly coloured cloth for your quilts. It will be so gorgeous you won't want to cut it up!
Felting for Quilters
Felt-making is one of the simplest and most satisfying textile techniques there is. Just because it doesn't involve cotton doesn't mean it isn't a great surface to quilt on. Learn the basics of how to make felt and use it for quilting. Warning: felt-making is very addictive!
